Get started with Palmtop on Android
From the signed Android APK to your first small coding task. Palmtop is currently an early-access download.
Before installing
The current build is for Android 7.0 or newer on ARM64 phones. The APK is about 333 MB; the bundled Debian environment and your projects need additional free space after installation.
Install and prepare
Download the APK from the official download page, open it, allow installation from your browser if Android asks, then open Palmtop and let the bundled environment finish setup. Keep the phone unlocked during the first setup.
Start a project
Create or choose a project in the app. Try a small request such as inspecting the project files or explaining a README. Choose the available free connection or connect your own supported AI provider; provider limits and charges are set by that provider.
Review the result
Follow the agent's progress, commands and file changes. Check a diff or artifact before using it. The Debian workspace includes Git, a terminal and package tools for supported tasks.
Keep the app current
Direct website builds check for a newer website release. Palmtop shows an update notice; you decide when to download and install it. A Google Play installation may use a different signing certificate, so save needed data before changing distribution channels.
